Some of the SJGT’s younger players gathered at Carnoustie for their second event of the season at the weekend. Tthe Buddon played extremely difficult with strong winds testing the players shot-making and course management skills but that didn’t stop all the players enjoying their game on Carnoustie‘s shortest course but this didn't stop the youngsters scoring exceedingly well and forcing the standard scratch down a shot!

During the presentation at Carnoustie, Kendal McWade, the Tour’s coach, made a tribute to Adam Hunter, Scotland’s under 16 national coach, who sadly lost his battle with leukaemia this week. The tribute was given at a fitting location since Carnoustie was the venue of his top pupil Paul Lawrie’s greatest victory, winning the 1999 Open Championship. Adam wasn’t just a great coach but was also a great European Tour player winning the 1995 Portugal Masters and he will be missed by everyone associated with golf in Scotland.

The young players of the SJGT shot some fantastic scores on a tough day in strong winds in the SJGTs first event of the season. The day opened with a short game skills competition at the practice green, named the Seve Challenge as the players had to use many clubs to hit different shots including a 3 wood chip and a 7 iron bunker shot. Taylor McGinnigle of Haggs Castle showed some jaw dropping skill to win the challenge with a phenomenal score of 17 points, winning by 5 points.

Calum Satterley's team Calum's Champs 5 took over at number 1 spot with 1087.5 points in the SJGT Fantasy Golf after Rory McIlroy won his first major, The US Open at the Congerssional Country Club, Bethesda June 19. Kenneth Scott's "Birdie Blitz" are in 2nd place on 1047.5 and in 3rd place David Sanford's Superheroes on 985 points.
